Youth of Anduin
Anduin Llane Wrynn is the son of Tiffin Ellerian and Varian Wrynn. His mother, Queen Tiffin, was killed by a thrown rock while trying to calm a riot by the Stonemasons’ Guild. When his father disappeared, Anduin took the throne of Stormwind as a child, under the regency of Bolvar Fordragon and the advice of Lady Katrana Prestor. Lady Prestor was secretly the black dragon Onyxia, who had used magic to split Varian into two people. When the two halves of the king unmasked her, Onyxia kidnapped Anduin, and both Varians worked together to rescue him before merging back into one man.
Anduin and the Light
Varian, considering Anduin soft-hearted, sent him to Ironforge, where he served as a diplomat and grew close to King Magni Bronzebeard. During the earthquakes that came with the Cataclysm, Anduin saw Magni turned to diamond during a ritual, and Magni’s estranged daughter Moira Thaurissan took control of the city and held Anduin hostage. When Varian came to end Moira’s rule, Anduin convinced him to spare her and set up the Council of Three Hammers to govern the dwarves instead. Anduin then chose the path of a priest of the Holy Light and asked the draenei leader, Prophet Velen, to accept him as a pupil, spending time with him at the Exodar.

Anduin in Pandaria
Sometime later, Anduin was shipwrecked on the mysterious continent of Pandaria. When agents of SI:7 arrived to bring him home, Anduin refused and stayed to explore. He studied under the August Celestial Chi-Ji, helped fight the sha, spirits that feed on negative emotions, and tried to stop Garrosh Hellscream, warchief of the Horde, from using the Divine Bell as a weapon. Anduin nearly lost his life when Garrosh destroyed the bell, and he was later healed by Velen.
Anduin: the King of Stormwind
In the Legion expansion, the Burning Legion returned to Azeroth, and the Horde and the Alliance fought together to stop the invasion. King Varian Wrynn was killed during the Battle for the Broken Shore, and Anduin permanently took the throne as King of Stormwind.
The battle for Azeroth
After the Legion was defeated, war broke out between the Alliance and the Horde, now led by Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner. Anduin led the armies of the Alliance across Azeroth while still trying to bring the bloodshed to an end, even if that meant getting his hands dirty. The war ended after the battle at the gates of Orgrimmar, when Sylvanas abandoned the Horde.

Anduin’s travels to the Shadowlands
After abandoning the Horde, Sylvanas tore open a gateway into the Shadowlands, the realm of death, and her Mawsworn allies took Anduin and other leaders of Azeroth captive in the Maw. The other captives were freed, but Anduin was subjugated by the Domination magic of Sylvanas’s ally, Zovaal the Jailer, and forced to serve as his champion. With the help of Azeroth’s heroes, Anduin eventually broke free of the Jailer’s control. Afterward, he chose not to return to Stormwind straight away, as he needed time to recover from the trauma.
Anduin’s War Within
In this section, Anduin of WoW travels around the world in disguise to find peace within himself. He left Paladin Turalyon as regent, who is eagerly waiting for their true king to return to Stormwind again. At the same time, Thrall, the renowned shaman of Hordes, finds him in Silithus.
They both get visions from Azeroth that lead them to the wounds made by Sargeras years ago. As a result, they will have to join their forces to face the upcoming challenges they need to face in the near future.
In The War Within expansion, Anduin was among those who heard the Radiant Song and joined the heroes of Azeroth on Khaz Algar in the fight against Xal’atath and her forces. During these adventures, he began to reconnect with the Light.
