LG has announced its new smart home AI agent, a two-legged all-rounder robot that can operate devices and appliances on its own and act as a house manager. The robot is part of LG’s “Zero Labor Home” vision and aims to make users’ lives more comfortable by helping with daily activities. LG showcased the robot at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, held from January 9 to 12 in Las Vegas.

Thanks to its two-legged wheel design, the robot can move around the house on its own and express emotions through its movements. It is equipped with a camera, a speaker and sensors that gather real-time environmental data such as air quality, temperature and humidity. It runs on Qualcomm’s Robotics RB5 platform, which enables on-device features such as face and user recognition.

Lyu Jae-cheol, president of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, said LG “will continue to help customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home.” The robot can connect to and control smart home appliances and IoT devices. It can also act as a pet monitor and a security guard, sending users alerts when it detects unusual activity.
When left alone at home, it can patrol the house and send information to users’ phones, for example about open windows or lights left on. It can also save electricity by switching off unused devices through a smart outlet. The robot greets users at the front door, can choose music to suit their mood and can remind them about medication, schedules, weather and transport.
What Happened Next?
At CES 2025, LG showed a Self-Driving AI Home Hub, tentatively named Q9, which the CES Innovation Awards listing describes as having a two-legged wheel design, moving on its own and controlling smart home appliances and IoT devices by voice. It was a 2025 CES Innovation Awards honoree in the Artificial Intelligence and Smart Home categories. Reports at the time said LG planned to launch it in Korea later in 2025, with no price announced.
At CES 2026, LG presented a new home robot, LG CLOiD, which LG says builds on its Self-Driving AI Home Hub (LG Q9). LG has not announced a release date or price for CLOiD, and as of October 2026 we have not found confirmation that the Q9 home hub actually went on sale.
