Instructions to Fix “IMessage Pictures Not Showing”
1. Close and Reopen Messages
- Close the Messages app from the App Switcher.
- Open Messages again and reopen the conversation to see whether the images load.
2. Resetting Network Settings
Sending any type of iMessages requires a stable network configuration. However, if they aren’t configured correctly, reset the iPhone’s network settings. As a result, it can be a useful option for “iPhone photos not loading in messages.”

- Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone, then tap Reset.

6. Turn On Send as Text Message
- In the Settings app, tap Apps, then tap Messages.
- Turn on Send as Text Message, so Messages can fall back to a text message when iMessage is not available.
- If you do not see these options, your carrier might not support the feature. Check with your carrier which message types (RCS, MMS or SMS) your plan supports.
7. Try Sending Lower Quality Images
Carriers may set size limits for photos sent by SMS or MMS, and large files take longer to send. If full-size images fail, go to Settings > Apps > Messages and turn on Low Quality Image Mode (Apple also lists a Send Photo Previews option).
8. Restart and Update Your iPhone
Restart your iPhone, and install the latest version of iOS if an update is available. If you still cannot send or receive iMessages, contact Apple Support; for SMS, MMS or RCS problems, contact your carrier.
