Slug Generator
Turn a title into a clean URL slug — lowercase, separator of your choice, repeated separators collapsed — with an explicit, honest policy for non-English text.
Enter text above.
Accented Latin letters are flattened to their closest plain-ASCII equivalent (e.g. café → cafe, München → munchen), since that matches what most CMS platforms expect from a Latin-script slug. Genuinely non-Latin scripts — Cyrillic, Devanagari, CJK, Arabic, and others — are not transliterated to ASCII; there is no reliable way to do that automatically without a language-specific rule set, and guessing would silently corrupt meaning. Those letters are kept in the slug as-is rather than being stripped out.
Generated entirely in your browser — nothing you enter here is sent to a server.
A slug is the human-readable part of a page's address — e.g. the how-to-build-a-tool in example.com/blog/how-to-build-a-tool. This tool lowercases text (optional), normalizes spaces and punctuation into a single separator of your choice, collapses repeated separators, and trims leading/trailing separators — while preserving meaningful Unicode letters rather than discarding them. Different servers and CMS platforms don't all enforce the exact same slug rules, so treat this as a strong, sensible default rather than a universal standard.
This is a different tool from the Text Case Converter's kebab-case output: that one targets programming-identifier conventions, while this one targets URL-slug conventions specifically, including an explicit choice of separator and a stated transliteration policy for non-English text.
